				Crooked houses, grinning orange cats, funky flowers and small babushkas are what you see when looking at Madeleine’s art.
				Madeleine Wendl was born in Louvain, Belgium and grew up in Montreal.  At a very early age she was interested in art, fascinated by bright colors.

 She is a self-taught artist who started painting in the early eighties following the birth of her two sons.  While they were napping, she found time to paint very bright abstracts and experiment with various media, finally settling on acrylics.

 In 1992, Madeleine moved to Romania with her family.  There she came in contact with “naïve art”, an art which portrays a world free of trouble, full of fun, happiness and laughter.  She realized then, that this is the kind of art she wanted to paint.

 In 1998, after living in South Korea for four years,  the family moved and settled in Burlington, Ontario.  There, with great encouragement and support from her family and friends, she began to devote herself seriously to her art.

 She is currently a member of the Fine Arts Guild at the Burlington Art Center where she participates in a number of collective exhibitions each year.

 She says of her art” I want people to smile and be happy when they see my art.  I want to bring sunshine into their lives”.
